Your adventure begins in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. Early in the morning, you drive northwest toward the lush landscapes of Volcanoes National Park. As you ascend into the foothills of the Virunga Mountains, the air grows cooler and the scenery more dramatic. After settling into your lodge or camp, you can explore the surrounding area and enjoy the serene mountain views in anticipation of the next day’s adventure.

Today is the highlight of your safari: gorilla trekking. Guided by experienced rangers, you venture into the dense tropical forests in search of endangered mountain gorilla families. The trek may be challenging, but the moment you encounter a gorilla family, observing their gentle interactions and strength up close, makes every step worthwhile. Return to your lodge in the afternoon, reflecting on one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in the world.

After a morning hike or a cultural visit to a nearby Musanze community, you depart Volcanoes National Park for the scenic shores of Lake Kivu. The drive takes you through Rwanda’s rolling hills and picturesque villages. Arriving at Lake Kivu, you enjoy the tranquil waters, perhaps taking a boat ride or simply relaxing along the lakeside. Dinner and overnight stay at a lakeside lodge offer a peaceful contrast to the mountain forests.

On your final day, you can explore the lakeshore, interact with local fishermen, or take a short hike along the surrounding hills. By late morning, you depart for Kigali, where you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or local markets before concluding your four-day Rwandan safari.
