This 9-day trek offers a gradual ascent, helping climbers acclimatize effectively while enjoying diverse landscapes, including lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and stunning glaciers. It’s ideal for those seeking a more peaceful route with fewer crowds and a rewarding summit experience.
Activity: Arrival and Orientation
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, our driver will meet you and transport you to your hotel in Moshi. After checking in, you’ll receive an orientation about the trek. Your guides will explain the journey ahead and ensure your trekking gear is ready for the adventure.
Trekking Time: 3 hours
Distance: 7 km
Altitude Gain: 450m
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll begin your journey with a scenic drive to the Londorossi Gate. The trek takes you through lush rainforest, where you may spot wildlife such as Bush Babies and Colobus Monkeys. Your destination for the day is Mti Mkubwa Camp, offering a peaceful setting to rest.

Distance: 10 km
Altitude Gain: 800m
The trail ascends into the heather and moorland zone, characterized by vast landscapes and distinctive plants like giant lobelias. Along the way, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. The day ends at Shira Camp 1, where you’ll enjoy a warm meal and stunning views.

Distance: 8 km
Altitude Gain: 290m
This section offers easy trekking on flat terrain, perfect for acclimatization. The moorland landscape is dotted with colorful plants and offers striking views of the mountain. After lunch, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before stargazing in the evening

Altitude Gain: 110m
Today’s journey includes a dramatic detour to Lava Tower (4,600m), a volcanic remnant from an ancient eruption. The trail also connects with the Machame route and provides impressive views of the Western Breach and Barranco Wall. The descent to Barranco Camp aids in acclimatization, preparing you for higher altitudes.

Distance: 9 km
Altitude Gain: 750m
The trek begins with a challenging climb up the Barranco Wall, followed by scenic views of Kibo Peak. After a rest at Karanga Camp (3,930m) and a short climb, you’ll reach Barafu Camp, the final campsite before your summit attempt. Prepare for the midnight trek to the summit.
Trekking Time: 6-7 hours to summit / 4-5 hours descent
Distance: 5 km to summit / 9 km descent
Altitude Gain: 1,195m
Altitude Loss: 1,800m
Starting at midnight, you’ll embark on the challenging ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. As the sun rises, the views become surreal, and reaching the summit is a hard-earned triumph. Afterward, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for the night.
Trekking Time: 4-5 hours
Distance: 10 km
Altitude Loss: 1,300m
The final descent takes you through the lush forest, with beautiful scenery as you approach the Mweka Gate. Upon reaching the gate, you’ll receive your Gold Summit Certificate to commemorate your successful trek.
Activity: Departure
After a fulfilling breakfast, you’ll be driven back to Moshi for a transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home. If you’re continuing on to a safari, we’re happy to arrange that for you as well!
